7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 2)

Ups...

7. A Welcome Cameo

Alexa Bliss

Dedicating an Up to this is charitable in the extreme, but it was nice to see Alexa Bliss back on SmackDown last night.

The blue brand was where 'The Goddess Of WWE' built her reputation as a singles competitor. Always a compelling NXT personality, she shone brighter on Tuesday nights that she ever did in developmental, first ascending to prominence through her feud with Becky Lynch. She was SD Women's Champion for 110 cumulative days across two separate reigns, and while she joined the main roster as an unfancied rookie, it's to her credit that she was considered a big, big loss upon departing for Raw in the 2017 Superstar Shake-Up.

Though the content wasn't exceptional, Alexa did a good job in delivering her promo. Greeting the fans with a "long time no see," she cut them down by saying she didn't want to be there, before running through the Daniel Bryan/Kofi Kingston situation and what was going down in the tag division. Then, she WrestleMania 35 put the Tag Title match together. Job done.

Was this segment a hint at things to come? It's easy to see Bliss heading back to SD in the upcoming international Shake-Up, given how far she was fallen in the Raw title hunt.
