7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 2)

6. The Miz: Good At Promos

As awful as the idea that The Miz is some kind of indestructible badass is, the man remains one of the best promos in the business. He could likely read your mother's laundry list and make it sound compelling, so, of course, his latest babyface speech finishes in the Ups column.

'The A-Lister' put Kofi Kingston over, telling the New Day man that it was his time to break through. He then went into his own WrestleMania match, claiming that to him, the event means retribution. The conflict with Shane McMahon has helped him discover who he is as a father and a son. A quick Miz & Mrs. plug came next, followed by the inevitable Shane barbs, prompting Sanity's arrival for the handicap match (as well as McMahon, who was a constant distraction throughout the bout).

Not a vintage Miz promo, but a solid one that heaped further heat on the McMahon bout, which has quietly become one of SmackDown's best built 'Mania matches. Think about that for a moment.
