7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 2)

6. Nonsensical Tag Booking

If WWE's plan all along was to book SmackDown's tag teams in a WrestleMania 35 clusterfuck, last week presented them with an easy way to throw a potential throwaway bout together with a sensible narrative.

Champions The Usos refused to compete against The New Day in last week's gauntlet match. They grabbed the mic, acknowledged their past battles, and took the forfeit. A great moment, but one that should've infuriated Vince McMahon. He put the gauntlet together as another hurdle for Kofi Kingston, and The Usos made a mockery of it, so why wasn't the big man the one putting this thing together?

Instead of doing that, WWE had Alexa Bliss walk out and just straight-up announce the match following last night's eight-man tag. It was colder than a witch's tit in a brass bra.

On top of this, why are Ricochet and Aleister Black getting a title shot? What have they done to deserve it? They lost to Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival just 24 hours prior. Granted, it was via countout, but they were outsmarted by Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson. Surely that would disqualify them from SmackDown contention?
