7 Ups & 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jun 11)

Ups...

7. A Very Okay Match

Drew McIntyre The Miz
WWE.com

We're reaching here. The Miz vs. Drew McIntyre wasn't any kind of good match, but it's strong enough to finish as an Up in a week when it was surrounded by tedious, boring dreck, and the other highs were so uninspiring.

This was the definition of an okay TV match, with the duo working a textbook format layout with no obvious flubs and sound fundamentals. It was fine. Certainly nothing worth rewatching or even going out of your way to see, but at least it was a notable step forward from the Elias bout.

It reached the right outcome as well, with Miz showing good fight against the Scottish colossus before inevitably falling via Shane's interference. 'The Best in the World' distracted his rival long enough for McIntyre to hit a headbutt, take his head off with the Claymore, then score the victory, softening him up for the Shane match.

Faint praise? Absolutely, but you've got to glean whatever positivity you can from shows like this.
