It may not have come about under the best of circumstances - nobody likes to see a hard-working Brit fall to injury - but the sight of MSK, Legado del Fantasma and the Grizzled Young Veterans all squaring off for the vacated NXT Tag Team Championships was enough to bring a tear to your eye.

The unpredictability of this chaotic three-way scenario very quickly made itself known as the three teams traded offence and shifted momentum at a rapid pace early on, with GYV gaining the upper hand initially with an impressive Poetry in Motion-esque manoeuvre.

An extended spell of GYV dominance soon gave way to an MSK jolt of lightening in the form of an over the top rope dive from Nash Carter, and a rejuvenated Legado executing a magnificent dual attack to the outside. If you were hoping for a breather, you came to the wrong TakeOver.

A one-man wrecking machine run from Wes Lee then seemed to open the door for MSK to bring home the gold, but Zack Gibson's decision to pulverise the newcomer's hand in the turnbuckle and lock in Shankly Gate seemed to derail those plans altogether. A dramatic beat involving Carter blocking his teammate's attempts to submit was ultimately interrupted by Legado soon after, but the pair soon paid for their intrusion with a GYV Doomsday Device and MSK's own wicked double team offence taking them out of the match.

The Dusty Cup finalists remained, and one double cutter from Nash and flipping neckbreaker later the bout's only babyfaces walked away with their first taste of WWE/NXT gold.

This was undoubtedly the right call, with MSK by far being the most compelling and exciting duo the brand currently has to offer. Throw them into a tasty feud with either of the teams involved here and you have the recipe for the perfect follow-up to a crowd-pleasing TakeOver Championship victory.
