7 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's WWE NXT (May 25)
3. Something Has To Give
In a counterpoint to the Samoa Joe video that was shown earlier, another package aired - this one focusing on Finn Balor. Again, the title change in Lowell was shown, but this time, there were clips of Balor getting offense on Joe in their various matches. Like the NXT Champion, Balor was also given a few brief interview clips, including one in which he guaranteed a victory over Joe.
That's a tricky road to go down - typically in wrestling, when a babyface guarantees something, it has to happen. Otherwise, he ends up looking bad and the fans turn out to be disappointed. Still, the split between AJ Styles and The Club on Raw all but locks Balor into an impending Raw debut and, as such, a loss to Joe. Perhaps, since Balor will be turning heel soon, WWE thinks they can get away with having him make a guarantee and not delivering.
Both men have promised to win, and needless to say, only one will be proven correct. Next week there will be a face-to-face between Joe and Balor, and they'll have their last chance to make more grandiose statements.
