3. Did The World Really Want This?

Can someone seriously inform us why Triple H and Randy Orton are wrestling at Super Showdown? Is it really, simply because they needed a “marquee” matchup for this “WrestleMania-equivalent” PPV?

Orton and Triple H have faced each other in 17 televised singles bouts through the years, 10 of which were for a world title. Throw in multi-man matches like Elimination Chamber and you’re up to 17 world title matches they’ve been involved in. And that’s in an eight-year span.

Monday, Michael Cole told us that after Evolution dissolved, this would become “a rivalry that would captivate us.”

Sadly, can anyone think of any truly classic, enduring matches that are fondly remembered today? Sure, there are a couple notable moments, but this isn’t a Shawn Michaels/Undertaker rivalry here. It’s two guys who were in a stable together and faced each other for a world title a lot through the years.

Was anyone clamoring for another match between the two of them?
