7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Raw's Season Premiere (Sept 30)

Ups...

7. Pyro!

It’s funny how something so inconsequential can provide such a shot in the arm.

In the grand scheme, pyro doesn’t “add” anything to the wrestling product – if the storylines and in-ring action are poor, all the pyro in the world isn’t going to make up for it, and the lack of pyro isn’t going to hinder your enjoyment of a five-star classic.

But WWE bringing pyro back Monday night was certainly a welcome addition to Raw. It made entrances pop a little more and gave the show a little more oomph. Sure, some of WWF/E’s biggest acts never had pyro, but if the company is going to cash these new TV contract checks, then they might as well spring for some upgrades.

It’ll be fun to see what new acts – those that came along after pyro was phased out two years ago – gain pyrotechnics to their entrances.
