7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2017

1. Orton? Seriously?

Are we seriously going to do John Cena versus Randy Orton for the WWE World Championship at WrestleMania?

For the record, Cena and Orton have faced each other for a world title on PPV 20 times in the past 10 years. And the last couple times, the fans mercilessly turned on the bouts and booed nonstop because they’ve seen this match far too often.

But Orton won his second Royal Rumble Sunday night, while Cena won his 16th world title, so it looks like both men are on a collision course for WrestleMania. What makes this Orton victory even worse is that there were so many interesting angles they could have explored: Chris Jericho facing best friend Kevin Owens; Undertaker finally facing Cena; Goldberg getting a title match; Samoa Joe debuting and facing AJ Styles or Owens.

Orton versus Cena (if it holds) will die a horrible death in front of 70,000+ fans in April simply because it’s been done so many times before.
