7 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Royal Rumble 2017

We all knew going into the Rumble that Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and Undertaker were participating in the Royal Rumble this year. And while it was welcomed by many as adding star power to the match, there was always one concern: that they would all pile up at the end of the match.

And that’s exactly what happened. Lesnar came out at #26, Goldberg at #28 and Taker at #29. They spent about a total of 10 minutes combined in the Rumble match and eliminated 10 men combined. And none of them were there at the end of the match.

It was a very strange use of all three men. Lesnar was barely in there long enough for the smoke from his pyro to dissipate. And of course, everyone else not named Roman Reigns in the match was just a geek for the three to maul. Even Randy Orton got F5’d like he was a nobody.

It’s tough to call these three men being in the Rumble a negative, but given the poor pacing throughout the match, it just made their appearances rougher than if things had flowed better.
