7 Ups And 2 Downs For WWE NXT (Mar 3)

1. Distracting Brand Eclipses Moon

Visually reliving the terror of being routinely ran down by a Shotzi Blackheart tank throughout 2020, Robert Stone accompanied Aaliyah to the ring for her one-on-one encounter against Ember Moon last night.

There's a point to be made that both stars were in need of some desperate attention during this match, with Moon not really catching fire since returning to NXT, and Aaliyah still yet to find her feet on Wednesday nights. Early on, the former NXT Women's Champion used her experience to bait the cocky Robert Stone Brand member into a back drop, but this only opened the door up for a distracting Stone to attempt, and fail, to head-hunt Moon for his unit.

It was only a matter of time before the brand once again tried their best to get involved in the action, but Jessi Kamea and Stone's intervention was soon thwarted by a savvy Moon and Blackheart. One Eclipse later, Moon was celebrating getting back to winning ways, but this still felt like a bit of a clunky way to get there.

Aaliyah, while showing potential, still feels largely green, the Robert Stone Brand aren't entertaining enough to justify their distracting nonsense, and despite picking up the win, Moon and her buddy Blackheart feel like they've lost their way post-WarGames. If this leads to an eventual run at the Women's Tag titles or possibly even a turn between the two, sign us up. But for now, this just feels like filler.
