7 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (Aug 26)
DOWNS
2. Kross Stitch
You just knew, didn't you? The moment his music hit to open the show, you just knew that we'd be getting a suitably wordy and poetic promo that invariably led to Karrion Kross relinquishing the NXT Championship he'd won this past weekend. Reports during the week that his shoulder injury might not be as bad as was feared proved, in the end, to be optimistic.
Nobody has arrived in the company and received such a strong push. Nobody has come in and demolished two of the brand's biggest names in their first two TakeOver matches. Nobody has won the NXT Championship this soon after debuting. Where Kross went next was going to be one of the show's biggest draws of 2020. That's gone now.
And yes, this is a down. It's nobody's fault, but it's still a down.
Neither Kross nor Lee are to blame for the injury, these things just happen in professional wrestling, and if it's going to put him on the shelf for the foreseeable then NXT have made the right call in vacating the belt too. It just... sucks?
