7 Ups And 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (Aug 26)

7. Wade Me Up, When September Starts!
NXT's had something of a fluid commentary booth during this Empty-Arena Era, and it's been a small curiosity that they've not taken that opportunity to bring in some exciting or bizarre guests. Barrett's both, in a way, as he's a fantastic commentator but, also, doing incredible work in the booth for NWA this year.
The announcement that he'd be back next week, and his subsequent addition to the NXT Roster page, looks like this could be at least a semi-permanent arrangement and, if it is, it's one of WWE's smartest moves all year. Like many others, Barrett left the company to pursue opportunities elsewhere after the company had spent years underutilizing his talents.
While he's not stepped back into the ring in his absence (we really, really, really tried at Defiant) he's cemented himself as one of the best orators in the business and, simultaneously, a bankable movie star. His role on NWA Power has been one of the main reasons to tune in and he's a brilliant addition to the NXT desk.
