7 Ups And 3 Downs From NXT TakeOver: New York

UPS…

7. Dunne’s Record-Setting Reign

Pete Dunne NXT TakeOver New York

Let this number sink in: 685 days.

That’s how long Pete Dunne held the WWE UK Championship. And while you could make excuses for how in the beginning, there were no challengers and no NXT UK brand, the simple fact is that Dunne was out there wrestling and defending that title for nearly two years.

His reign was the longest in WWE in 30 years. There are only five title reigns that have been longer (all WWE Championship). Dunne has long since surpassed Brock Lesnar and Asuka. That is not insignificant by any means.

You’ve got to wonder what’s next for Dunne. Does he remain in NXT UK, where only a small fraction of WWE’s global audience will see him? Or could he possibly move to the main rosters stateside?

Time will tell…
