7 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT TakeOver: Toronto

4. Mickie’s Still Got It

Give Mickie James a lot of credit: She walked back in a WWE ring after six years and took on one of the best women’s wrestlers on the planet and would have been believable if she had won.

But it’s not like Mickie had been sitting on her couch since leaving WWE. Still, she probably opened some eyes during her NXT Women’s Championship match against Asuka. The former six-time WWE women’s champion (one of which was a Diva’s title reign) had Asuka on the ropes a few times, even busting out a Muta Lock. Ultimately though, the NXT women’s champ retained her title – and then denied Mickie a handshake in a nice show of an edge.

If WWE is looking to add any women to the roster (whether it’s NXT or WWE) to bolster its ranks, you could do a lot worse than having James wrestling a few matches for you. She showed she certainly can hold her own.
