7 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (July 24)

2. No Fistbumps For You, Seth

WWE don’t tend to do subtle relationships well. Wrestlers either like or dislike each other, with few feelings in-between. On the few occasions the company are able to paint a tense, uneasy relationship, they tend to either forget about it the following week, or jump the gun on the payoff, launching the duo into a feud ahead of schedule.

This is what makes the way they’re currently handling Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins so refreshing. ‘The Architect’ wants to buddy up with his former Shield brother, but Dean is reluctant. ‘The Lunatic Fringe’ was distrusting in a backstage segment midway through Raw, and refused to bump fists with Seth as the show went off the air. He’s extremely wary of Rollins, and that’s exactly what he should be.

Ambrose has absolutely no reason to trust his former ally at the moment. The Shield’s dissolution took place over three years ago, but they’ve feuded extensively since then, with Rollins committing some pretty terrible acts against the former SmackDown man. It’s nice to see WWE haven’t forgotten this piece of history, and wherever the Ambrose/Rollins situation ends up, they’re doing a good job showcasing their tension at the moment.
