7 Ups And 5 Downs For Last Night's WWE Raw (New Year's Eve)

Downs...

5. Hometown Jobber

Jinder Mahal Rhyno

It might be a “fresh start” for WWE, but one chestnut that looks like it has carried over is wrestlers jobbing in their hometowns.

After being “fired” several weeks back, Rhyno re-emerged on Raw recently, helping Heath Slater out against Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers. Monday, Slater & Rhyno teamed up against Jinder and the Singhs in Rhyno’s hometown of Detroit.

And wouldn’t you know it? After a Singh distraction, Mahal landed the Khallas to pin Rhyno right there in the Motor City. Even with tiny Samir and Sunil right there, Rhyno still had to take the pinfall loss in front of friends and family.

Maybe Curt Hawkins should make it his gimmick to challenge wrestlers in their hometowns until he breaks his winless streak. Sooner or later, something will have to give – the streak, or WWE’s love affair with hometown losers.
