7 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 13)
3. WWE Leans Into It
One of the prevailing rumors going around is that Roman Reigns will win the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, but he’ll do it by enlisting the help of Brock Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman, finally turning heel and embracing the boos he’s received for the past couple years.
Rather than ignore it, WWE chose to play to that rumor by having Heyman make overt overtures to Roman on Monday night, offering his services to the Big Dog at SummerSlam. He offered selling Brock’s secrets, and even spoke Samoan to Roman, disclosing advice his father gave a young Heyman years ago.
Of course, WWE then flushed all of that to have Paul E. use pepper spray to blind Reigns and set him up, rendering the past two weeks seemingly worthless. But the segment did lend itself to making you wonder if Reigns realized that he can’t win alone, because with Heyman in Brock’s corner, all bets are off.
