Raw was punctuated Monday night by the end to a show-long angle involving GM Kurt Angle nervously wondering if Seth Rollins would make it to Raw in time for the contract signing for his Intercontinental Championship match against Dolph Ziggler.

The ridiculous part about it was Ziggler and Drew McIntyre acting as if Rollins missing the signing on Monday would nullify the match… because time halts after Raw goes off the air and there’s no way Angle could get up with Seth to sign the contract in the remaining five days before SummerSlam. It’s an arcane way of treating TV angles.

The other dumb part was trying to raise the question of whether Rollins would show. Of course he would emerge before the show ended. That was never in doubt.

Sure, they played it off as a way to lead up to Dean Ambrose’s big return, but that could have been done differently and still effectively. This was just a silly storyline to thread through Raw.
