7 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (August 13)
1. Boring Corbin
New haircut, new ring attire, new job title, same crappy wrestling.
Baron Corbin might have gotten an upgrade as the constable of Raw, but he still is incapable of carrying a match. We’ve seen the Lone Wolf have decent matches against good opponents, but when he’s forced to carry a bout, like he did against Tyler Breeze, it was just one long chinlock or resthold the entire match.
The worst part is that Corbin is playing a perfect character for himself: As much as fans might despise Finn Balor being caught up in this feud, Baron plays the bullying heel well. He should have been using power moves on Breeze the whole match, press-slamming him, whipping him around the ring, bealing him all over the place, etc. What we got was a snoozefest.
This was an opportunity for Corbin to get legit heat as the “big man” in the match, which is the basis of his entire feud with Balor. Yelling, “It’s a big man’s world!” isn’t how you do it.
