It’s understandable that the announcers would have to sell the return of Big Show as a big deal, and that his staredown with Braun Strowman was a meeting of the monsters.

And let’s admit it: the staredown between two giants was cool. But you’ve got to take a few points off for the announcers talking about how Show might be a favorite in the Royal Rumble on Sunday, pointing to his size and the shape he’s in.

Fact: Big Show has been in 11 Rumbles and has won zero of them. Sure, he’s been the last man eliminated twice and in the final four a couple other times, but he has always managed to get tossed from the Rumble. Always.

And yeah, that fact doesn’t help sell tickets, but it’s just a little comical at times when Michael Cole wonders aloud how anyone can toss Show and you realize that plenty of people have done it already. That fact won’t make a showdown with Strowman and Show any less cool, so there’s no need to sell it harder than needed.
