7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Extreme Rules 2016
3. A Solid Brawl
Kudos have to go to AJ Styles and Roman Reigns for putting on a pretty good match to close out Extreme Rules. Sure, they used every trick in the book, destroying two announce tables, having four men run in, using a steel chair and having several false finishes, but it was a good match overall.
Still, its pretty obvious that WWE was desperate to put Roman over as a killer (something they used to do quite well before they got away from it), and AJ did everything in his power to make Reigns look lethal. All of that succeeded to some extent, though the crowd wasnt particularly buying it (chanting You still suck! after back-dropping AJ through a table).
However, the fans were off when they said Reigns cant wrestle. He put on a good performance Sunday night, and Styles really carried it to a main event level. Its a shame Styles didnt win in some ways, because it wouldve made him, rather than have Roman overcome the odds once again in the hopes that 10% of the fanbase comes around to him.
