7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2018
3. Rousey Exceeds Expectations
In the lead-up to Money in the Bank, the popular question was: How much smoke and mirrors would WWE use to cover up Ronda Rousey’s inexperience in her Raw Women’s Championship match against Nia Jax?
The answer: Not much.
Rousey and Jax had a surprisingly really good match, with Ronda rising to the occasion and looking more competent than anyone could have expected. Sure, the match was well-constructed, but both women executed it near flawlessly. Jax threw Rousey around and used her size and strength advantage, while Ronda was quicker and used strikes to get back into the bout. She even hit a top-rope crossbody, which was a hell of a surprise.
And just when it looked like Rousey was about to make good on her promise to tap Jax out, Alexa Bliss interfered, ending the match and kicking off another one. It was a smart way to save Rousey in her debut singles match without moving the title to her just yet.
