7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2018
6. Rollins Takes A Shortcut
Typically, babyfaces don’t use shortcuts to win their matches, because it runs counter to their DNA. But when they do, if it’s done right, it can send a message.
Sunday, Seth Rollins exchanged roll-ups with Elias at the end of an entertaining, seesaw Intercontinental Championship match. Rollins grabbed Elias’ belt and held on for the extra leverage to get the pinfall. It wasn’t an honest move, but after having his knee attacked for much of the match, Seth was out of options to hold onto his title.
That sort of thing – a desperation move for a good guy to triumph – sends a message that the villain was just as good as the hero. In this case, Rollins needed the leg up to win, so he took it. Elias has a legit gripe for a rematch, and despite losing, he doesn’t look as bad as if he had been stomped into unconsciousness.
