7 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 13)

1. A Ladder Match?

Rey Mysterio Andrade
WWE

OK, let’s run through this… Last week, Andrade stole Rey Mysterio’s mask off his face and gloated as he carried it around the ring and backstage, only for Rey to jump him to reclaim the mask.

So Monday, it was announced that next week, Andrade and Mysterio will battle for the United States Championship… in a ladder match!

Wait, a ladder match?

Why not a mask-versus-title match? Or mask-versus-hair match? The theme of last week’s confrontation was centered on Rey’s mask, his luchador identity, and so the next step was a WWE staple, the ladder match.

If you’re not going to make the mask part of the storyline or stakes, don’t go down the road of one luchador stealing another’s mask. It’s just an illogical move.
