7 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 18)

3. The Perfect Foil

When Maryse returned to WWE alongside her husband, it was a safe bet that that would be a marked improvement for the Awesome One€™s character. Giving him a valet €“ especially a known commodity like Maryse €“ would help him really establish the arrogant Hollywood elitist character he€™s portrayed for some time now. The fact that she€™s also his wife so they can be a €œpower couple€ only helps.

In addition to this, Miz also is proving to be an excellent foil for the returning Cesaro, serving to bring out more of the Swiss Superman€™s personality €“ something WWE brass seemingly has felt was missing from his character. By having Miz be an obnoxious jerk, it€™s easier for Cesaro to play against that and take swipes like Monday€™s €œRowdy€ Roddy Piper impersonation from €œThey Live.€

And since Miz portrays himself as a Hollywood A-lister, it€™s worth noting that in his black suit and sunglasses, Cesaro bears a somewhat striking resemblance to a real A-lister, England€™s own Jason Statham, no?
