3. Goldberg Continues To Rule

Who would’ve thought that a 49-year-old retired wrestler who last competed in WWE 12 years ago would become a major player in the span of a month? But that’s what’s happened with Goldberg, who drew lengthy chants and stood tall on Raw Monday night.

The former WCW world champion faced off against Brock Lesnar on Raw… with about 10 security geeks standing between them. But the highlight was watching Paul Heyman getting flustered by Goldberg every time he cut the advocate off midsentence. Goldberg’s no-nonsense attitude (at one point, he told Heyman to shut up and take the rent-a-cops out the ring so he and Brock could tangle) won over the fans, while the crowd’s incessant chanting pissed off Lesnar.

It was a good way to build tension without having them sign a contract or even make contact. Goldberg certainly seems to be enjoying his little run, and it’ll be interesting to see how he does after 12 years at Survivor Series.
