6. New Day Hacks Lana

Last week, this column chastised New Day for their lame ice cream shtick. This week, however, is a different story. And it’s due to the players involved and the delivery.

Once again, New Day was obsessed with their secret plans to bring ice cream to the people. Kofi Kingston noted that last week, Bo Dallas ripped the plans up, so they went digital and saved them on an iPad and encrypted them.

That’s when Lana pulled out an iPad of her own and started reading the plans, leaving our heroes befuddled… until Big E quipped, “You know she’s Russian, right?” A timely, political joke like that could have induced groans, but it got some solid laughs (this writer included). The issue was resolved later when Xavier Woods used his trombone to startle Lana, causing her to toss her iPad to him.

The gimmick worked this week, but it’s no guarantee that every week will be a home run. Normally, we’d hope WWE doesn’t press its luck and overdo it, but this is WWE we’re talking about here.
