3. Heyman Promo Falls Flat

It’s rare that a Paul Heyman promo doesn’t make the TV screen melt (in a good way). So when said promo fails to ignite, it’s certainly worth noting.

Heyman and Brock Lesnar sat down Monday night for an interview with Michael Cole, who was quickly chased off so Brock could steal his chair and stare down the camera while Paul delivered a strange soliloquy. Heyman talked about how some said that Owens could retain his title at Fastlane against Goldberg – among other tidbits – but Brock disagreed.

The possibility that the WWE Universal Championship could be on the line in their WrestleMania XXXIII match wasn’t lost on Brock and Paul, but they’re in a strange holding pattern until after Fastlane, which might be why this promo felt so strange. More than likely, this was just an off-week for Heyman, and we’ll get the typical blistering promo next time around.
