2. Just Another Match

There was a time when Sasha Banks versus Charlotte Flair felt like a special match. But when it was announced as an impromptu bout Monday night, you knew you were in store for a solid match, but that it also wasn’t a special occurrence.

That’s because it was the ninth time the two faced each other in a one-on-one match since in the past year on TV or PPV. By comparison, Triple H and The Rock, who seemingly battled nonstop during the Attitude Era, had 21 one-on-one bouts from 1998-2002. “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Rocky had 10 televised bouts between 1997 and 2003.

That’s not to say that Charlotte and Sasha shouldn’t face off from time to time, but the lack of depth with the women’s rosters is becoming more evident when what should be a special match is just an impromptu bout that serves as a backdrop for the ongoing Bayley/Charlotte feud.
