7 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE King Of The Ring 2002

7. Up - Ric Flair Shows He’s Still Got It

Hey guys, don’t wanna keep blowing your mind, but as it turns out: Eddie Guerrero and Ric Flair are good in the ring together. You’re shocked, I’m sure.

By no means a classic, Flair vs. Guerrero is still the mix of sound psychology and technical prowess one would reasonably expect from those two. What’s impressive is how in-shape Flair is for his age. He’s certainly past his prime by 2002, but dang, it’s no wonder he was still wrestling in the 2010s. The man was simply built do it.

To make shortcuts around some of Flair’s physical limitations and set up storylines, the match includes interferences from Chris Benoit and Bubba Ray Dudley. Ultimately, Flair’s able to pick up the win, and his “one last run” starts off on a high note. Hopefully, we see some good stuff as we continue through 2002 onward.
