Assuming a large portion of WWE fans have not watched NXT regularly, you would want to try to “get over” as much of their personas as possible. And one simple way sometimes could be to shut up and let them do their thing.

Adam Cole has a distinct entrance that involves audience participation. It’s not the most groundbreaking thing out there, but it shows immense fan awareness and familiarity with the NXT Champion.

So, as Cole made his entrance Sunday, what happened? Nigel McGuinness and Michael Cole talked over the first part (where he gestures “Boom!” at himself). And then, they cut to a replay from Saturday night right before he did his “Adam Cole Bay-Bay!” gesture, muting the crowd.

It wouldn’t have taken much effort to quiet down and delay the video replay by five seconds to get that portion of Cole’s entrance across to fans. And it’s not like what he does is a mystery to the production monkeys in the back.
