7 Ups And 8 Downs From WWE Survivor Series 2019

5. Missed Opportunity

Little things can make wrestling great, but they also can count against you when you miss them.

A theme heading into the men’s Survivor Series match was whether Team Raw could trust Kevin Owens, who Saturday night joined Team Ciampa at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. And early in the match, we got a test: Tommaso Ciampa and Shorty G were down in the ring and KO climbed to the top rope to deliver a frogsplash, but he had to choose who to attack.

He chose SmackDown’s Gable for the splash and pin. It added to the story that Owens was secretly siding with NXT.

But then moments later, KO was getting back into the ring and Ciampa caught him with a draping DDT for the pinfall, ending Owens’ night – and the mystery.

WHY? Why would you do that? Why not have Shorty G or Mustafa Ali or anyone on Team SmackDown eliminate Owens? You could have kept that veneer up a little longer, maybe even beyond Survivor Series.

Instead, the mystery, which started Saturday night and carried over into Sunday and into the damn match itself, was ended just like that. Dumb.
