The upside of adding NXT to the Survivor Series PPV was that the company’s third brand got some much-needed exposure. The downside was that it increased the size of every match by 50%.

In the case of the 5-on-5 (-on-5) Survivor Series elimination matches, that just proved to be way too much, especially in the women’s bout. There was too much dead weight in the match to really allow for things to flow. You could have nixed Toni Storm (sorry, love her, but she added nothing to the match), Dana Brooke and Sarah Logan and not lost anything except about 5 minutes off the match.

If WWE is going to insist on keeping NXT in the mix in Survivor Series PPVs going forward, they might want to consider a switch to a 4-on-4-on-4 lineup to keep things moving at a good pace.
