It’s understandable that WWE needed to talk up Goldberg as if he was the greatest thing to happen to the company since the last part-timer returned and wrestled a match or two.

But when Michael Cole called Goldberg the “most dominant superstar in WCW history” and the “greatest champion in WCW history,” the writers were just playing fast and loose with the truth. Umm, Ric Flair? Sting? Vader? Hollywood Hogan? Any of those men could stake a claim to being a bigger champion in WCW.

You could argue that Goldberg was the most dominant considering he had a 15-month unbeaten streak. But still, it almost felt like WWE officials were trying to talk themselves into believing that it was worth the money they invested in a 49-year-old man who last wrestled 12 years ago.

Despite that, Goldberg’s return to WWE wasn’t all bad. Stay tuned in the “Ups” section.
