7 Ups And 9 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 17)
6. Cruiserweight Afterthought
If Raw was running short on time Monday night, it might have been better to postpone either the match between Big Cass and Karl Anderson or the Cruiserweight six-man tag match. As it turned out the cruiserweight bout was very short, with a lot of the action taking place during a commercial break.
Fans got to see a glimpse of action, but not much before a flurry at the end that finished off the match. It’s also yet another week where cruiserweight matches have been relegated to the “death slot” just before the main event (whether that’s a promo or match). There has been more than one match on several episodes of Raw, but it’s becoming a pattern to stick a cruiserweight match just before the main event and call it a day.
In Monday’s case, putting a six-man tag match in the slot and then having half the bout take place during the commercial break was a little off-putting. It would be nice to see the cruiserweights get a little more time – and a more high-profile spot – to showcase more than just a few highspots.
