Sunday night, Andrade “Cien” Almas won a short but spirited match against Sin Cara, presumably ending their mini-rivalry. That’s a good thing.

What isn’t good is how long Almas has been on the main roster – drafted in April, debuted in May – and he just had his first PPV match – on the kickoff show. Almas has had just three televised matches since his debut, including one against Sin Cara. That’s a pretty lackluster debut period for someone who had a lot of momentum coming in as the former NXT Champion.

Of course, this “down” is tempered by the very real possibility that Almas is on his way up the card now that the feud with the faceless one is seemingly over. But it still felt a bit hollow that Andrade’s first “PPV” match came in a 10-minute curtain-jerker before the PPV.
