Tables matches can be really good, or they can be really disappointing. There rarely is an in-between ground.

Sunday’s tables match between New Day and Sanity would qualify as a disappointment on multiple levels. Right away, we were informed that despite it being a six-man match, only one person needed to be put through a table rather than having it be an elimination match or that each member had to go through wood.

But then the match itself was dull, with minor bouts of action giving way to a convoluted elimination as Alexander Wolfe held Kofi Kingston off the apron for Eric Young to elbow drop him through a table on the floor. It was a bit silly, and not a very convincing win for the new trio.

This could have been a match where Sanity eliminated all three men through tables and looked strong rather than lucking out with Young being in the right place at the right time to end a mediocre match.
