7 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 20)

6. We Still Don’t Know

Dammit, we almost got an answer.

Two weeks ago, Paul Heyman announced that WWE Champion Brock Lesnar would enter the Royal Rumble at #1. That “unprecedented” announcement carried little detail. Would Brock’s title be on the line? Was he gunning for the title shot that came with winning the Rumble and use it to challenge the WWE Universal Champion?

Monday, Heyman again was ranting about the Rumble, and he noted that the winner of the Rumble gets to pick which champion to face at WrestleMania. He noted that Brock doesn’t think there’s one person worthy of facing him at Mania… and that was it.

So we know the title shot is still up for grabs, but we don’t know if that means Lesnar winning would mean he just picks “himself” and takes the night off in Tampa Bay, or if he would attempt to unify the two world titles. And we haven’t ruled out whether Brock’s title is on the line, though it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s not.

Look, if you’re gonna book this, make it clear what the stipulations and stakes are. Otherwise, you just leave questions on the table.
