7 Ways NXT Is WWE's New SmackDown

5. An Evolution Of Talent

When the Brand Extension was formed to accommodate the abandoned WCW and ECW talent, many of these superstars still found themselves treated to a less than stellar reception from McMahon€™s company. Former ECW and WCW champions like Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio were left fighting for the company€™s mid-card belts where as others, such as Scott Steiner and Goldberg, vanished almost immediately after entering WWE. WWE it seems has since learnt its lessons with shoving talent into the main roster and thus has taken a slower approach with NXT. Adrian Neville, who held the NXT championship for almost a year until very recently has only now been rumoured to be taking the leap up to the next level whereas The Ascension had to prove themselves as a supremely dominant tag-team for two years before making their debut on the last Raw of 2014. It is this level of attention in its superstars that shows a dedication in NXT that was never really given to SmackDown! and, hopefully, spells a bright future for stars like Sami Zayn and Charlotte who all hope to not only make their way up the ladder to the big league, but make an impact their Invasion counterparts only wished of making.
