7 Ways To Make Sure Dean Ambrose Is A Successful WWE Champion

1. The Title Must Be The Main Event

Professional wrestling in 2016 is a very different beast to the grappling world of the pre-internet age. Championships have lost their lustre somewhat, and whilst they still represent the pinnacle of an individual's career from a personal standpoint, they are no longer the be all and end all of what happens on TV.

In a form of combat entertainment that focuses on the latter as opposed to the former, the championship belts are, at heart, props. One sure-fire to diminish and remove the perceived importance of a prop is to treat it just as that, as a prop. We may be wise to it in 2016, but winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship must still be the ultimate goal of those in WWE.

As such, Dean Ambrose as champion must find himself positioned at the very least in the top two men in the company, and when it comes to the special events WWE has going forward he must find himself in the last match on the card. CM Punk broke records with a 434-day reign a couple of years back, but he didn't main event a show until he found himself up against John Cena or The Rock.

This can't be the case for Ambrose. If he finds himself defending the title in semi-mains both he and the title will lose whatever momentum they have gained from last night's events. The brand split looms on the horizon, and the future of the belt itself is unclear to say the least.

Whatever happens, if Dean Ambrose is to be a long-term bankable option for World Wrestling Entertainment then he must be a success as champion right now.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
