7 Ways WWE Are Failing Their Own Cruiserweight Division

5. Forcing Austin Aries To Play Babyface

Ask any number of ROH or TNA fans which role suits Austin Aries the best and the answer is likely to be heel. Aries has a smug persona that works well when he's the vicious one getting heat during matches. In WWE thus far though, 'Double A' has played a veteran babyface fans are expected to get behind.

This isn't playing to his strengths, and even though matches between Aries and Neville have undoubtedly been enjoyable, there's something missing. Aries isn't the ideal character babyface, so someone else would be better placed in that spot than he.

If anything, Aries should be being built as a heel in support of Neville's domination of the Cruiserweight division. The potential is there to build a faction around the Englishman by having Aries and Brian Kendrick agree with his dismissal of younger stars like Rich Swann, TJ Perkins, and Jack Gallagher.
