The counter-argument to the previous point posits that neither Rollins nor Reigns is currently in a position where they require The Shield. The reunion of the faction was a vehicle to solidify the Seth babyface turn and give Roman Reigns something to do over the winter period before the Road to WrestleMania. Injury to Ambrose or not, both of those aims were achieved.

But what of Dean Ambrose? Was he not left behind by his two partners, neither of whom seemed to show any worry about the fate of their fallen brethren? All three of The Shield have been presented as professionals, but the lack of care would undoubtedly rankle with the unstable Ambrose.

It would more than likely cause fans to roll their eyes deep into the backs of their heads, but what is stopping Dean Ambrose from heading to NXT and picking up a couple of young upstarts, forming a new version of The Shield alongside him? NXT is overflowing with talent that is spinning its wheels, and basically any combination of guys can be added to Ambrose to make a powerful unit. How about Ambrose, Kassius Ohno and Oney Lorcan? The Authors of Pain? There are plenty of options if Ambrose is looking for new backup.
