7 Ways WWE Get Their Best Characters All Wrong
4. Cartoon Monsters
He should be his generation's biggest star - a larger than life babyface showman a la Hulk Hogan, without the problematic side - but Braun Strowman is too often presented as a cartoon boogeyman whose feats of strength are fast losing their appeal.
The law of diminishing returns has well and truly kicked in. Some of his spectacles are so far removed from reality that they make it difficult to invest in a guy who was WWE's hottest act last summer, and that's a shame. Why does he have to flip a vehicle, tackle a port-a-potty off the stage, or trash the set every other week? Did he need to team up with a 10-year-old at WrestleMania 34? Surely winning Money In The Bank was a big enough triumph without Braun snapping that comedically large chain?
Hosts of other monsters have suffered from similarly goofy presentation over the years. Strowman is far from a lost cause, and he's still over as hell, but we haven't seen the best version of his character for months. Let's hope he gets back to wrecking people, and not things, after SummerSlam.
