7 Ways WWE Have Made Bayley Look Stupid

6. Cheating To Win

On March 5th, 2017, Bayley defeated Charlotte to retain her Raw Women’s Championship, but she didn’t do it cleanly. Her win came through a distraction from Sasha Banks, Bayley’s closest ally, which not only compromised the pure, wholesome characteristics that made her so likeable in the first place, but portrayed her as a weak wrestler whose career’s biggest pay-per-view moment came through a friend’s actions, not her own.

Fastlane painted Banks as the division’s most decisive wrestler, not Bayley. Such an outcome would be acceptable if she was a cowardly heel, but she’s not. When Bayley triumphs, it’s supposed to be through honesty and hard work, but both of these traits were completely disregarded at Fastlane, and Bayley was painted as someone who just can’t get the job done on her own, particularly as Charlotte had defeated her cleanly two months prior at the Royal Rumble.

It was a dismal way to end Charlotte’s pay-per-view winning streak, and portrayed Bayley as a fortunate fool. She remained Women's Champion through luck alone, but this defence was just the latest step in a reign built on dishonesty from the very beginning...
