7 Ways WWE Have Made Bayley Look Stupid
5. Blissful Ignorance
Fastlane was bad, but Bayley’s title victory a few weeks prior was even worse. She and Charlotte battled in a tremendous Raw main event, with Sasha Banks striking the incumbent champion while the referee’s back was turned, allowing Bayley to capture the gold. A dishonest, shady victory, and one that was followed by a complete lack of self-awareness from the new title-holder.
The following week saw Bayley hit the ring to cut a passionate promo on what the belt meant to her, but she was soon interrupted by Stephanie McMahon. Raw’s Commissioner rightly pointed out that Bayley had disappointed her fans by not winning the belt on merit, and should therefore relinquish it. Bayley responded in the least endearing way possible - by screaming “HELL NO!” - thus making her look totally remorseless.
It was a lose/lose situation. Had Bayley given the title up, she’d have looked limp and pathetic, but denying the reality of the situation showed her as somebody completely out of touch with what had really happened. Not once did Bayley show even the slightest hint of regret for the way she’d captured the belt, painting her as a petulant cloud-cuckoo-lander content with her own ignorance.
