1. Buried At Extreme Rules
The final nail in Bayley’s coffin came at Extreme Rules 2017. After several months of being made to look like a total schmuck by Alexa Bliss, this was supposed to be her shot at redemption. Unfortunately, she was flattened in just five minutes, completely killing her credibility as a title challenger, with a finish that made her look like the dumbest person in the building.
The lame “Kendo Stick On A Pole” stipulation unfolded in the worst possible way. The conclusion saw Bayley take the stick and crack Alexa in the stomach, but Bliss had done too much damage to her beforehand, and she couldn’t cover. Alexa then took advantage, finishing her opponent with a DDT, proving herself right in the process.
The feud’s whole narrative was that Bayley couldn’t step up to compete on Bliss’ level, and the bout did nothing to dispel this. Bayley tried to play Alexa’s game, and she failed miserably, thus justifying everything the champion had said about her in the build-up. Where once Bayley would have dug deep, turned the corner, and finally overcame the odds, she crumbled like a ruined tower at Extreme Rules, and now faces a lengthy rehabilitation process if she’s to salvage her damaged reputation.
