One more button push on the NES controller of yesteryear is the introduction of Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as the heads of Raw and SmackDown respectively. Another move that got a lot of people excited because 2001 wasn’t that long ago was it? Really, it was 18 years ago and we probably could’ve picked a lot of other names who were younger and more deserving? Fair enough, moving on, let us focus first on the less attractive of these names which is of course Eric Bischoff.

Not to be a Bischoff hater by any means but the fact that he himself admitted to being disconnected from wrestling in recent years leaves a bit to be desired in terms of who you want running one of the two biggest brands in all of the business. But he does have the resume of running the big show even if it was almost two decades ago. The problem is that it feels like the opposite of the optimistic portrait that WWE has been painting for us.

They want us thinking they are going to get edgier and more innovative yet their plan was to bring in somebody who arguably had an outdated mindset even in his WCW days, as he brought in older stars on massive deals that would make even WWE blush.
