As much as WCPW General Manager Adam Pacitti might hate it, and as unlikely as it may have seemed just a few short months ago, Martin Kirby will challenge Joseph Conners for the WCPW Title at Refuse to Lose.
Pacitti initially planned to keep Kirby off the card altogether but, after handcuffing himself to the ring ropes on the last episode of Loaded, he relented and gave Kirby has match against the champ.
Kirby has been on the roll of his life lately, scoring huge wins over guys like Will Ospreay and Pete Dunn. More than that, his performances in those matches have given him a new respect in the eyes of the WCPW fans, turning them all into his 'Kirb Krawlers'.
Conners is not to be overlooked, mind, having recently turned to the darkside and developed a serious mean streak. His Righteous Kill finisher is one of the most brutal in the business and has ensured he has retained the strap when put up against El Ligero and Drew Galloway. Kirby will have to be on his game and avoid that particular move at all costs if he wants to exit Refuse to Lose as the new top man in WCPW.
I, for one, think he will. With the fans behind him and the Sable Bomb properly mastered, Kirby has never had a better chance to win WCPW gold.
