Rusev was utterly obliterated at February by The Big Show - of all people - when the Raw brand visited Milwaukee for their Fastlane pay-per-view. Show hit Rusev with three chokeslams, the brutalised him with a knockout punch in the corner as he lay prone.

Lana had to witness yet another evisceration of her husband first hand - then look on as his lumbering sidekick Jinder Mahal went from no-mark sidekick to WWE Champion in a matter of weeks when all three were drafted to (and separated on) SmackDown Live.

Remember Rusev's threat not to even work for the blue brand unless given an instant WWE Title shot? Remember Lana as a dancer/wrestler with all the two-sports believability of Thurman 'Sparky' Plugg? Aiden English remembers - he was looking for a way to rebuild his career after his own partner f*cked the WWE life off altogether after WrestleMania.

Was it this disastrous night in Milwaukee that cynically flowed like poison through Rusev Day all along. Or, another one...
